Dear Ruthie,

Here's where we'll be sitting at the CFO concert on 6th May. I'm very much looking forward to talking to you then, hopefully during the interval. Granny of course is waiting to hear from you when you can find time.

If you can manage it (at the concert), could you do a one-minute video greeting for Granny? - as long as no-one is going to interfere .... She so much enjoyed the videotape of last year's concert. When on holiday, Isaac was using Granny's video recorder and apparently stumbled upon the tape. He recognised you immediately, but Granny didn't tell him or anyone else where the tape came from. When Granny told me about this I realised that Doreen was in contact with your mother.

As I promised you, if you send me an e-mail I won't use e-mail to reply, in case someone else sees the message. It would be lovely to hear from you like last year, with a real letter, or real e-mail. That envelope and contents sit on top of one of my computers (the one I built when you and David went with me to Edinburgh to buy the bits - Nov.'97). Perhaps you don't understand how much that letter meant to Granny & me, because, for a start it made me realise that you didn't believe all that rubbish about me - a lot of people have been told that I should be in a mental hospital!!! - or similar dreadful things. Anyhow your "mad dad" !!!!! loves you and misses you so much. There's so much in those blank 7 years ..... but it's a comfort to know that people can't hide the truth for ever, and one day, hopefully very soon, I'll get to have a proper conversation with my darling "Tumshie" (remember that?). There's too much to say just now, so here's wishing you orra best for Saturday - and remember to look out for the braw-looking chap with the video camera, accompanied by the elegant lady with glasses and grey curly hair. By the way, she's a (wonderful) lady, she's a (wonderful) friend, but not my "ladyfriend", just in case you were wondering.

Love as always,
Dad.
