I'll write you a proper letter shortly, but in the meantime .....Tonight (14-APRIL-06) it was such a pleasure to hear your voice for the first time since December 1999. I phoned my friend J. 662030 right away and she was delighted - and added "It will just make your mother's (Granny's) day". By the way, Granny keeps asking me every few days "Any word from Ruth?"

One thing that has been on my mind is that I've not had any school reports for you since last summer. Should I have had one?
Bearing in mind the obstacles to communication, I wish I could have said more about your exam results in 2005 at the time, but I'll remedy that just now - What a clever daughter I have - you've done much better than I could have done. When J. saw your report her reaction was "... a very clever girl ..... much like her dad....".
